Stay Warm Snowboarding
It starts with a horrible burning, then the pain comes... that's after your feet have been frozen and start to come to life.
Have you ever wondered why your feet get so cold when snowboarding, so cold it hurts, so cold you can’t feel them? Once the feet go, you better head back down. Happy feet make a happy snowboarder.
I usually feel my hands getting cold first, so I make them into little balls trying to keep the warm, while on the chair lift I keep them tucked under my under arms “like Mary Kathryn Gallagher...... super star”. One more run and my feet start to get cold.
The number one reason for cold feet is moisture in your boots, weather is by being too hot before getting outside or by having a hole that's allowing snow to get in.
If that is not the case, your body needs to keep your internal organs nice and warm so all the heat is being used to keep your upper body warm. That’s when the hand and feet go, they are the farthest away from blood flow. That’s why you may feel warm and just your hand and feet cold. To stop this make sure you wear enough clothing on your upper body. On really cold days I wear my down vest underneath my jacket. Dressing in layers is what you should do, that allows pockets of warm air in between layers, if you don’t wear a helmet (you should) you can even layer your beanie. Too tight.... not good, you want blood circulating, specially in the hands, I know people that layer their gloves so tight that they can even move their fingers.

So make sure you are not sweating in your boots before going riding, no leaks and keep your internal organs warm.
Don’t forget the face guard!!!!
Toe and hand warmers do work, I find the toe warmers to be super uncomfortable, and work better stuck on the back of my iPod, keeps the battery running longer!!
