d3o Technology
You might be wondering what d3o technology is all about. To put it simply it is a light weight, breathable, flexible material that can protect you from injuries. A small piece of d3o material put in the knee joint of your snowboard pants or some around the shoulder area of your jacket could make the difference between riding away from a wipe out or having to go to the hospital.
How does d3o technology work
d3o is made up of tiny intelligent molecules that flow smoothly with your body. Like for example if you were bending at the knees you wouldn't feel it. But when you fall from a wipe out they lock together(get hard) to absorb and disperse the impact. The reaction to an impact happens in a fraction of a second, then after the impact d3o goes back to its flexible state.
What does this mean for snowboarders
This means you can stay protected without wearing regular bulky pads. d3o technology is still relatively new, so not many companies have incorporated the use of d3o material into their line of products. Sessions is the first snowboard company to incorporate d3o into their clothes. Hopefully in the future all companies will incorporate d3o technology into their product line. This would keep everyone a lot safer.
