Rules of Snowboarding

Rules Of Snowboarding

Following the rules of snowboarding is really easy. All the rules are pretty much common sense, but it is good to go over them still. They will keep you safe on the mountain. This is one of the most important aspects of snowboarding techniques. These are not as much snowboard tips as they are mountain tips for everyone enjoy the slopes.

1. Know your ability: You should always ride to your own ability, don't go crazy and try to drop a 15 foot cliff when you can't even hit the little jumps at the park. Don't go to fast either, you should always be able to stop if you need to. Take your time and work your way up to things, you will get there.

2. Don't stop in blind spots: It's not a good idea to stop at the bottom of a jump or below a catwalk. Someone coming might not see you until it's to late. If you have to stop try and go to the sides of the run. Make sure you are out of the way of everybody before you stop. You will be protecting yourself and others.

3. The person in-front of you has the right away: No matter how slow they are going, the person or person's in front of you have the right away. That means you have to be ready to react to any crazy turn or wipe out that those in-front of you might do. You don't want to be responsible for injuring someone.

4. Stay within the boundaries: Unless you are experienced in the backcountry and you have your beacon and avalanche gear, don't ride out of bounds. If you get lost you are on your own, you could die and if you are lucky enough to get found you have to pay for what ever is necessary to get you out. So if they need to use a helicopter to rescue you, then you have to pay for the helicopter fee. Yeah, that's going to cost a lot of money.

5. When merging look uphill and yield to others: If you are riding a catwalk and are about to drop in on a run that has a higher part to it where other people could already be riding down, you need to stop and let them go by first.

6. Make sure you know how to use the lifts: Not knowing how to load, ride, and unload the lifts are only going to cause problems. You will be holding everyone up and they will let you know about it.

7. Don't let go of your snowboard: Whatever you do, don't let your snowboard go. Always have a firm grip on your board, or keep one foot strapped in or wear a snowboard leash. Don't let it go, it can seriously injure someone.

The rules of snowboarding are also known as the responsibility code. Keep these very important snowboarding techniques in mind at all times, they will keep you having accident-free-fun on the mountains. If you some how forget the rules of snowboarding while your riding, you can always refer to the resorts' map because every map has the rules printed on them. Have fun and stay safe.
