Snowboard Injury
I remember the first time I went to the chiropractor... I had just gotten home from Colorado and the entire month before I left I had this really funny limp, my friends would make fun of me and said I looked like a pimp from the 70s. My neighbor at the beach happens to be a chiropractor and a spine surgeon.
I wasn't having pain but I knew something was up... he told me my hip was a little out of place, a few ribs were also messed up and a few discs on my neck...
He fixed me up and told me I would hear a lot of popping for the next week but that was normal, and I went on my way. I spent the whole summer surfing and skating having an amazing time. The next winter I continued with the abuse to my body, jumping cliffs, hitting big jumps, wipe outs nothing new. Again by the end of the snowboard season I started to feel horrible, it was some sort of stress that I never had, at the time I didn't even know what stress was.
When I got home I went to the Dr. and I was told that my entire spine was compressed, that I had fractures on my hips, my neck was completely out of place and that I had even caused my spine to curve in some spots.
I spent the entire summer at the chiropractors office, physical therapy, machines all kinds of things. I have to say that it is the worst I've ever felt. I thought that may be I was loosing my mind, things seemed darker, I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep. The worst back pain I've ever had, it was all over my back.
I was told not to do anything for a month, I couldn't skate, surf... I mean I would go for a walk and be so tired. It was driving me crazy not being able to do anything.
After 4 months I started to feel better. The new x-rays showed that my spine had returned to normal, the fractures had healed and that I was ready to start doing sport activities.
Now I go to the chiropractor at least once a month. If I fall and feel my leg shorter or my arms uneven I go right away and get it fixed. I stopped having bad headaches and I feel great even though I still abuse my body.
People say if you go to the chiropractor you'll have to go forever. When you go your spine is 100% afterwards, of course when is not you are going to want to go back. I have been going for the past 5 years and I've never had a bad experience.
I recommended to everyone.
