When I bought my first pair of bindings there weren't any snowboard binding reviews available so I ended up with a pair of really cheap bindings. And going for the cheapest pair on the market isn't always the best idea.
Buying a pair of cheap snowboard bindings can actually be a dangerous thing for you because they break a lot. Since the plastic that is used to make the strap is so cheap they break off when the temperatures are cold. This can either happen as you are tightening them down or worse as you are riding down the mountain. Both situations happened to me when I had my cheap pair.
It was kind of funny because I use to carry a piece of velcro in case my strap broke.
Fortunately that was a long time ago and I learned my lesson about cheap bindings. Now a days bindings are so much better. They are lighter first of all, more responsive, more comfortable, and easier to tweak and tighten down.
