Snowboard Helmet

Wearing a snowboard helmet is a crucial must on the mountain. There are several reasons why wearing a helmet is a good thing. The most obvious reason is that they protect your head by absorbing impacts. If it's dumping out, wearing a helmet will keep your head dry. Wearing a helmet also traps your body heat better than a beanie, so you stay a lot warmer. Also if you like riding the trees a lot wearing a helmet is really cool because you can just put your head down and fly through those tight spots.

We've both been wearing the Bad Lieutenant helmet made by Giro for the past couple of years. We got hooked on them when a friend who was a rep at the time gave us one before they were out.

It is a really good snowboard helmet because it has an extra rim around it that sticks out like an inch or so and it can totally save you from some bad whiplash.

If you like riding with music, SkullCandy makes ear pads for the Bad Lieutenant with speakers in them. They work really good because you can listen to your music, but still hear everything around you, like that out of control skier or the snow cats. You can also hook up your phone to it and it come with a clip mic. More information about SkullCandy below.

I have heard that some people find the bad lieutenant uncomfortable because it's hard on the inside. I've never had a problem with it. We found a really cool website that sells the <> and other snowboard helmets. You should check it out if you don't have a helmet yet, or if you do have a helmet already I recommend you still check them out because helmets lose their protective quality each time you wipeout. Maybe you will find a helmet that you really like.

For those of you who don't know about SkullCandy they are a company that makes really cool headphones. Since everyone rides with music these days having a solid pair of headphones made specially for snowboarders by snowboarders is awesome.

SkullCandy says "Music is a life style" and "theses products say something about the user. Headphones occupy a huge amount of real estate on your head. your music delivery device should speak to who you are." They make really good and affordable headphones, like the 2008 Marc Frank Montoya signature lowrider sells for only $40. Check out link at bottom of page.

All SkullCandy headphones link up with your mp3 player(Ipod and others) and your cell phone. It's cool because you will be listening to music and then you will hear a beep from someone calling you and you click a button and you are talking on the phone while still listening to music in the background if you want and all while you are snowboarding down a hill. this year SkullCandy really stepped it up with the Giro tune ups with Bluetooth link. With this you can listen to your music and still talk on the phone without any annoying wires.

Another really cool product they came out with this year is the SkullCandy speakers built into the collar of a water repellent Sessions hoody which hooks up to Ipod's or other mp3 devices. And the really cool thing about it is the controls for the music are all on the right hand sleeve near your wrist, so it's easy to find the song you want or turn the volume up.

We've found one of the few online websites that carry SkullCandy headphones. You can click on the picture of the Lowrider headphones to be taken to their website. Maybe you will find a pair of headphones you like.

If you don't like the Lowrdier style check out the GI, rasta colors. Click this picture here:
