Snowboarding Forward Lean: What is forward lean and what does it do?

Forward lean is the part of the binding that rests against the back of your calf. It angles your leg towards your toes, the more your leg is angled the more pressure on the binding when you make your heel turn and this makes your turns come with less effort.
