Snowboard Lesson #4

Snowboard Lesson #4

WEEK 3

Lets go back to the flats or a semi flat green run and practice on going switch, this mean try to snowboard with your back leg in the front.  Don’t worry about making turns going switch yet, just focus on going straight and not loosing your balance.

On your second day lets try to do a 180˚on flat ground.  Bend your knees, lift weight from front leg, put some pressure on your back leg, look at the tail of your board and bring your front leg over to the back.  There, you just did a back side 180˚.   Try a frontside 180˚, bend your knees, lift weight from back leg, and bring over to the front, stay looking ahead.

Where you look is where you are going to go!

Now that you are a 3 week snowboarder, take your self to a black run, you don’t have to point it down the hill.   Look ahead, pick where you would like to go, what seems better snow etc.   Make wider turns to slow yourself down.  Point it when you are comfortable and ready to be able to make fast stops if necessary.
