I wish I had used a snowboard review when I bought my 1st snowboard. Here's Why:
My first times snowboarding was with borrowed snowboards. The excitement of going riding with someone else's stuff only lasted so long. It was really cool of them to let me borrow stuff, because they saved me a lot of money by not having to rent equipment, but having my own gear felt so much better.
I didn't have much money so I bought a package deal. I got a snowboard, boots and bindings, it was a long time ago but I think I paid $250-$300. I quickly learned that cheap isn't always the best. When you buy cheap snowboards you end up spending more money fixing the board, the base material used in the construction of cheap boards isn't that strong. If the base makes contact with anything other than snow it gets messed up. Besides they ride crappy!
When my best friend taught me how to snowboard I got taken everywhere from groomers(of-course), to trees, moguls, powder, rails, cliffs. Learning to ride all types of conditions right away is the best way to really understand snowboarding. However, doing it while riding a cheap board is not a good idea. By the time I took it in to the tune shop, I was told it was going to cost me $100 to fix it. So I figured instead of investing $100 into a board that gets beat-up so quickly I'd rather just save my money and buy a better snowboard.
After years of riding all kinds of different boards one worth mentioning is the GNU Carbon High Beam. The GNU Carbon High Beam is an excellent mid-range priced board. It is good for just about everything, but one of the best features is the low maintenance CX2500 base.
I have taken the Carbon High Beam right over rocks at full speed without anything happening to it. Not because I wanted to but because I had to. It's pretty amazing any other board would have huge gouges.
What's ironic about the whole situation is that now I am a tuner so I can get it fixed any time I want but I don't have to.
Anyway just keep certain things in mind when looking for a new board. Refer back to the Snowboard Buying Guide, and think about the quality of the board. Be honest with your own abilities and get a board that is right for your skill level and the type of terrain you will be riding. Helps to Demo boards, (rent) before you buy, usually shops have good deals.
Here is this seasons' Snowboard Reviews Note this is in no way the entire list of snowboards from this season. These are just some of the best of this seasons boards(with a few good boards from previous seasons). Use the search option below for specific brands, sizes, womens boards, mens boards...you get the idea.

08 Bataleon Snowboard Distortia Snowboard Review
This is the distorted sister of the Evil Twin and Bataleon's first true twin women's deck for the park shredding princesses out there. To optimize the park performance of the Distorta Bataleon equipped her with a female version of their TWINTBT that is a bit narrower in the waist. This makes for a board that is extra forgiving on landings, smooth on take-offs and gives less edge catch and is easy to lock onto rails while being responsive and direct enough for those with 'petite' feet. Designed for those girls that hate the pink, butterfly, sunshine, pretty flowers crap out there...

08 Rome Graft Snowboard Snowboard Review
When Rome introduced the Graft last year, riders like Casey Neefus and Brendan Hayes quickly started using it as their daily ride. Now, in just the second year of the series, Rome has re-engineered it into a twin design based on the foundation of last-year's chassis. So the original feel is maintained, but its switch capacities are stepped up. Unlike the jib-specific performance of the Artifact board, the Graft is a twin with a little more pop for a diversity of pleasures.
