Strap In vs. Step In
What is strap in vs. step in all about? Do you want to step in and start riding? Or would you rather have more options with your bindings and boots?
Strap In Bindings
Strap in bindings are still the number one choice of bindings for most snowboarders. I think they are better because you have more ways to tweak the binding so it will fit your boot and style of riding better. Now days they keep getting lighter and more comfortable. I guess some might not like how long it takes to strap in, but if you practice you will be able to strap in on the go, if you can't you should try and make it a goal!.
Step In Bindings
There are some people that prefer the easy of step in bindings. Step in bindings require the use of a harder boot which many people like because it allows you to get on edge faster. However, they are typically heavier and don't offer much in the way of adjustments.
Flow Bindings
If you like the idea of stepping in and riding away you might want to consider Flow bindings. The Flow bindings are a cinch to put on. Once you have adjusted the strap that holds your foot down into place, which you do before you go riding, pull the highback down, slide your boot in and bring the highback back up into place and you are ready to go. The Flows are good if you ride park a lot, or if all your friends are skiers! it saves a lot of time. I wouldn't recommend it if you on deep powder, snow gets inside, where your boot goes, while you are skating and it is really hard to clean it all out. Make sure you get the right size binding for your boot.
