Vail Mountain Review
If you are thinking about taking a snowboard trip this winter the Vail mountain review will let you know if Vail is the right place for you.
Vail puts it best when they say there is no comparison. Vail is simply huge. They have four terrain parks with three half pipes. Seven bowels and 5,289 acres of ridable terrain will await you at Vail.
Vail mountain is 7 miles wide which is why on an average day there are only 2 riders per acre and on a busy day 4 rider per acre. However, you have to know where to go if you want to stay away from the crowds on those days. If it's a really busy day and you like super easy groomers and don't want to travel to far away you should check out chair 26.
The town of Vail is just as big as the mountain. And unlike many resort towns it is located right at the bottom. They have tons of lodging, places to eat, 3 different grocery stores, bars, live music, and one of the best free transportation systems in the country.
Vail Mountain Review Pros & Cons
Pros: Large wide variety of terrain to choose from. Beautiful weather, most of the time. Lots of secret spots. Plus if you buy a Vail lift ticket it works at Beaver Creek which is about 7 minutes down the road. Check out our Beaver Creek mountain review for more info. Your Vail lift ticket will also get you into Keystone, which has nite riding, Breckenridge, and A-Basin.
Cons: Can get real crowded on holiday weekends and pretty much every weekend from late March till close. Crowds mean it's hard to find parking, there are long lines at the lifts and many people flying all over the mountain. Also Vail is pretty flat, so if there is a lot of fresh snow or you don't know where the real flat spots are you will be doing a lot of skating.
